Sascha K, Doin' it again! Updated: May 28th, 2004 (some editing - Better section about my pal Roger, Review of WWIII still coming soon, sorry)
KMFDM ... what a wonderful group. The more you listen the more you poop. Well, not really, but it was a neat rhyme. Don'tcha think?
I have to say that i admire KMFDM a hell of a lot. They've run the music road from choppy, sloppy 80s funked up techno rock of "What do You Know Deutschland" to the Ultra-Heavy Beat you year today in WWIII. Flowing through the flavours of Sascha's anti-popular-stupidity, and Raymond's drunken sex music, this band has had many sounds and feels and goals and hardships and death and rebirth.
RIP THE SYSTEM, My Friends! RIP THE SYSTEM!!!
I currently own
What Do You Know Deutschland?,
Don't Blow Your Top,
UAIOE,
NAÏVE,
MONEY,

For a long time now - several years - i have had an internet friend named Roger who loved my KMFDM site. He decided to email me and we have been sharing our lives (through words) ever since.
He actually sent me a package filled with his old KMFDM Singles, Videos, t-shirts, albums, and albums from Pig, Sow, Excessive Force and a single from En Esch, plus the ever elusive ORIGINAL version of NAÏVE!! He was feeling lost on KMFDM after Adios, and felt like he needed to move on, and just sent them all to me! Awesome!!
Well, anyway, he makes music. He has always been involved in music and making music and stuff, so he has a website up now that showcases his new songs, such as "Addiction/Redemption" and "Video Game Whore". I suggest you check out his site and download his songs! I like'em a lot!! What he doesn't have up there (being only a 30meg Tripod site) he has a link to on an mp3 page.
His style is a sort of rough but musical industrial type. Calls himself Zero. I can't wait til he gets another album out. He recorded an album called The Beast Within, and man it's awesome!! This album is all just music, no lyrics, and it's just transcendental! It's electronic stuff with crazy, neato beats, and crazy, neato sounds. Some of it is kinda eerie ... i love good music that'll instill a creepy sorta feeling. Creepy in a good way, of course. It is just really awesome music that could send you to different places like planets of laughing aliens or to the innocence of watching a little girl pick a flower (i think that was the story behind one of them).
His music is representative of Everything meaning Nothing, and Nothing meaning Everything (thus the name ZERO). When he does some concerts he will encourage listeners to come however they want, dressed up with masks or just whatever, and bring along their own instruments to just play whatever they feel like. He will have the lights darkened around himself, and all the lights will be directed at the dancing singing, drumming, flute-ing (whatever) fans, letting their "Beast Within" run amuck and be completely free for a few hours. Something i would love to go to, wouldn't you? He says he wants it to be that the fans are the stars of the show, he's just the guy who starts the music. I love this idea. I can't wait til he tours near my city or i get money to travel to go see him somewhere in the states or something, hehe.
So check him out ... the webpage address (in case all my links here aren't working) is:

You can see my reviews
of the full albums that i listed above so colorfully, maybe i'll review the singles much later on.
I first heard KMFDM on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. It was a slightly altered version of "Juke Joint Jezebel," and frankly i was annoyed as hell with it and always fast-forwarded thru that song! The next KMFDM song i heard was the kick-ass song "Ultra" from the "Street Fighter II the Animated Movie" (the Chun-Li vs. Vega scene) and then a friend of mine showed me "Dogma" and "Son of a Gun" for a school project we were making, and I was quite impressed ... After that i finally saw the "A Drug Against War" video on MuchMusic on the heavy metal music-playing show now called Loud (it was called Power 30 back then). It was such a kick-ass video, and the song was great, too! I was quite impressed with the art of BRUTE! and KMFDM! So, i got ANGST for christmas! i have to say, the greatest remix of "Light" is the one by Die Warzau, "Rubber Gloves Dub," track #3 on the Light single ... now THAT is Ultra-HEAVY Beat!!! Anyways, i can only come to one conclusion:
KMFDM KICKS ASS !!!
Well, before Symbols, at least. But Symbols was still pretty good, despite it's couple of boring songs and 90% car commercial-type common techno music. Adios had like 4 or 5 good songs among the boring songs and car commercial music. But MDFMK kicks some royal ass! And now with KMFDM back, they've finally found their own groove within the new style!
I NEED to know what that second question is when they start saying,
"Do you know who owns and controls the station you're watching?"
Then it sounds something like,
"Does the truth you know rely on spunding?" Then,
"Does it matter?"
I know "spunding" is not a word … but it doesn't quite sound like "spending." Sometimes it sounds like "responding" … but not quite. Or maybe "expunding" ... is there such a word? I know the first line and the 3rd line are right because it is written in the lyrics part at MDFMK.net. But the second line is completely ignored for some reason! Does anybody know what it is saying? Please Email me if you do!
Fast Songs Vs. Slow Songs Vs. Boring Looooonnnnggg Songs
I have made an observation about KMFDM and MDFMK … they make wicked, kick-ass fast songs that rip thru you and make you feel powerful … but then they try to make slower-paced songs with slower beats that just drain your energy making you wait and wait and wait until they finally end, but then start up again, leaving you to pull your hair out (eg.: Conillon[WDYKD?], Killing[DBYT], Ganja Rock[UAIOE], Naïve, Piggybank and Achtung![Naïve], Bargeld[Money], All the slow songs, Naïve, and even Go To Hell, on Naïve: Hell To Go, Revolution and Juke Joint Jezebel[Nihil], Blame[Xtort], Torture[], Witness[Adios], Gasoline, Stare at the Sun, Transmutation[MDFMK]). None of these songs are good enough to be as loooooooonnnnnnnnnng as they are!!
Bargeld is a delightful change in the middle of the mostly-boring album Money, but it doesn't need to be that long. Go To Hell isn't a bad song, but it lasts so fucking long on Hell to Go! Just when you think it's over, it STARTS UP AGAIN! Go To Hell is so much better on the original Naïve If you make a song that is supposed to be very long, it should have some variety … some speed changes … some music changes … Look at Full Worm Garden on Adios … that is a long song, but the music is so beautiful that you forget its length! Can you say that about Torture on Symbols? Look at Pink Floyd … they have tons of 20 minute long tracks that I can listen to over and over, and KMFDMDFMK are making 7 minute songs that drive me insane!
But then you say, "Disobedience is a slow song, why isn't that in your list?" My reply is because it has interesting little changes and it works as a long song! If it weren't for the Drug Against Wars, and Witch Hunts, and Sieg Siegs, and DIYs, and Ultras, and Ikons, and Megalomaniacs, and Amerikan Dreams I would have turned away from Sascha and his crew a long time ago! The songs that suck are terrible and unlistenable, but the songs that are good kick major fucking system-ripping ass!!! Listen to Amerikan Dream and then try to sit thru Achtung right after … you'll be so frustrated, like you are being blue-balled! (Explanation of "Blue-Balling" for the younger audience: having sex and then your partner stops just before you start to have an orgasm, but your partner never starts again!) If you have any comments about what I said (I don't think simply putting, "You're a fuckin' idiot" qualifies as a comment ... if you want to call me an idiot, go ahead! But TELL ME WHY i am an idiot! I prefer to argue with intelligent
people!) then email me or Sign my Guestbook and tell me. I am interested in the reaction of die-hard KMFDMDFMK fans … do most of you like the slow, long, boring songs that I listed, or do you thrive on the songs that have a life of their own?
(Earlier KMFDM) + (1986 Slayer Guitar Sounds) = (Godlike and a few UAIOE Songs) + (What the hell?)
You know what? When i first heard Godlike on Agogo, i heard a very familiar guitar sound (BOTH parts) from a Slayer album i used to own called
Reign In Blood. The first guitar part is from the song, "Angel of Death," and the second is from, "Criminally Insane."
I was thinking, "that's weird." Then for christmas 99 i got UAIOE, and found MORE songs (Thrash Up! AND En Esch!) with
Slayer sounds! I am not sure if the guitar music is from Slayer in these 2 songs, but the scream in "En Esch" definitely comes from one of the songs!
They're all from that one 1986 Slayer album! So, i am
wondering ... why did they do this? I guess they liked Slayer ... particularly that album. And coincidentally, it was the only album i ever owned by Slayer. So, i
guess, for those people who think KMFDM made up the guitar on Godlike, think again ... it is actually Slayer music! (but the words to Godlike
are all KMFDM). Heh, hope i didn't ruin that song for a lot of you. I still enjoy it. Go and listen to those Slayer songs ... you'll know what i'm
talking about }:oP

This freedom has become delicate and fragile
KMFDM stands up against the patronization, the glorification

"I made a god out of blood
not superiority
I killed the king of deceit
and now i sleep in Anarchy."
The song this is from is called Anarchy. It is on the CD with the Symbols (the 97 CD, with Megalomaniac) This is my favorite song. The first time i listened to it
i felt a deep connection to it. It touched me. And that line up there is my favorite line of all! It is saying, "I made a God for myself with myself. With my own blood, and not with being pushy. I killed the king of deceit (Christ, or Jehova, or a gov't leader), and now i can finally rest, comfortable in my anarchy." Well ... that is what it means to me. And that is put far
better than i ever could. This has been my theology since i was 5 years old.

The thing with KMFDM and MDFMK is: if you want to know what they sound like, whatever
you do: DO NOT LISTEN TO ONLY ONE SONG, or ONLY ONE ALBUM. Their music style is so varied that you almost never hear the same type of music in the songs or albums. Sure a lot of songs on the same album may sound the same, but there are too many levels of difference. Sometimes the songs are heavier in the guitars, and sometimes the songs are completely
electronic, some silly, some serious, some calm, some chaotic. Some songs are sung by the leader, Sasha Konietzko,
others are sung by En Esch, or Tim Skold. Many other songs are sung by Raymond
Watts, or guest singers from other bands like Skinny Puppy and Ministry (one of those is where Ogre comes from). Some are sung with many female singers like Abby Travis, Nina Hagen and Lucia Cifarelli or spoken by Nichole Blackman. Some have back-up singing by crappy female singers like cheryl wilson and not too crappy like Dorona Alberti and others. You can't
categorize KMFDM easily. I guess you could put them in German-Industrial, but they go beyond that. In their own words, they are Ultra-Heavy Beat (which started to fade with Symbols and Adios, but came back again in full force when Attak and WWIII arrived!). They could also be called Punk, Metal, Groove, Trip-out, Techno ... etc...
"Sucks" is a really good song if you know what it means. A good example of it
would be the part where it says, "Our music is sampled/simple, totally fake.
It's done by machines cuz they don't make mistakes!" And then right after that
line, they play a guitar solo that a computer could never have done! Although, i must point out the samples of Slayer guitars they did use ... but usually (and i mean the huge other chunk of kmfdm mdfmk music) they make their own guitar music. "Sucks" is a
smart-ass song about those who call their kind of music 'fake', and who say
stupid things to insult them, only resulting in making them more known and
determined. This song also ridicules the dumb rumor that states:
KMFDM stands for, "Kill Mother Fucking Depeche Mode." (Actually, i am not exactly
sure if the chicken came before the egg on this one ... perhaps people thought KMFDM hated
Depeche Mode AFTER hearing "Sucks" ... but i doubt it) My friend, Adam and his family still think it is Kill MotherFucking Depeche Mode ...
I must also say that "Dogma" is a definite favorite! These words were just
itching to bust out and slap people in the face with their upfront, verbal
brutality of, not swear words (well, maybe one), Truth!
One thing i have noticed about KMFDM is the number of songs in which they state the
name of the band! It's not bad i suppose, but you don't normally see Pantera, or
something, singing, "Pantera, doin' it again ... etc.." or, "Marilyn Manson, better than the best ..." or, "Project Pitchfork will never stop!" Excessive Force (Sascha's side project) does this as well ... "Excessive Forces, Conquer the world!" So, it's either that Sascha is
completely full of himself, or he's just trying to stress the meaning behind the
K, M, F, D, and M.
The world has been waiting for a band like this to gain recognition, and
it has been around since the earliest 1980s! In a way, i wish KMFDM would gain the
recognition it rightfully deserves, but then it would become popular. Popular
leads to Trendy. Trendy leads to sickening (See "Du Hast" and "Beautiful People"). Sickening
leads to the garbage, and nobody but the hardcore KMFDM fans would stick with
them. All trends die (as another favorite band: Pantera so readily loves to point out!). That is why KMFDM is still alive. Trends ruin society
because it makes people do things they wouldn't normally like to do, just to
impress others. So i say, "Keep KMFDM an almost underground band! Only the
real people, like you and me can listen to them in peace and stomp on the people who only recognize KMFDM for 'A Drug Against War'!
It isn't their only song, i hope you know!"

A Little Story
Those of you who own XTORT know which story i'm talking about. Nobody has it written anywhere, so i figured it was MY job!!
She was a living doll
The rainbow in one eye
and the other
Bluer than the bluest sky
This faery took a stroll among the strawberries
to have some breakfast with the fellow faeries
"Some rose-petal stew
and a drop of morning dew
That'll do," She contemplated,
Slightly irritated
about her
Frustration
Towards creation
Being Etherial
could drive her hysterical
Particularly since she has a physical
appetite
Then this punk came by
and she said,
"Hi ..."
His neon hair stood upright
And shades
hid his eyes
against the light
The pins piercing his skin
expressed the state he was in
But ...
Something was very alive
in his pants
And he took it out
with BOTH HANDS!
"Oh i'll fuck you faery,"
he said
"Right here in the fucking strawberry-bed ...
... Well, lick my dick!," he insisted
Her Etherial mind
was totally twisted
right out of her head
(Some time passes)
"Oh... good golly. I'm getting rather wet
But...
is this ALL i'm gonna get?
Hardly more than a drop of morning dew!
I didn't really come
How about you?"
But the punk was on his way
and in the faery forest
the faery had to stay
And like many of us
with herself she had to play
for the remainder of this exciting, uh ...
wonderful ...
(sigh) ... this very day
Thanks for reading the little story.

our dear KMFDM and associated bands and people. Go there!!
Ramms+ein (I am not sure if I like them, because I have only heard 3 songs … the person who owned the CD was too obsessed with Du Hast, which I heard before it became a craze … and I'm not just saying that, cuz I know how stupid it sounds when people are like, "Well, I heard it before anybody," … but in my town, I DID! I even have the original version of the Music Video recorded from a show on MuchMusic called Loud where heavy music is played! That was about in early 98 when the whole craze came in 99 and a new cut of the video was made that was so badly put to the music compared to the original ...)
Everybody knows NIN and Pink Floyd and Rammstein by now. For some reason,
when i first popped in KMFDM i was reminded of Pink Floyd. Why? Well, the brilliant lyrics for one … and the only Pink Floyd album I owned at the time was Dark Side of the Moon with the one track of the crappy woman singing, and KMFDM has crappy woman singing, too! (I am not saying women singing is crappy … I am describing the way these particular women sing to be crappy). Pink Floyd is the god of excellent lyrics and beautiful music!! Now, for those of you who do not know, Pink Floyd is a band, not a guy's name! Roger Waters' head was full of insight and intelligence! He wrote the lyrics and played bass and sang in the later albums (Animals and The Wall). The rest of the band, Dave Gilmour[guitar, most vocals], Rick Wright[pianist], Nick Mason[Drums] mixed together to create Music ... TRUE music!! With something to say, as well! The music got a little white-trashy slightly in Animals (Sheep) and more so in The Wall (Young Lust), but the long long songs they made were still as beautiful as ever! Let us not forget the bittersweet Wish you were Here ...
For some reason, almost nobody that I know has ever heard of Project Pitchfork or Gravity Kills. Well, except for the guy who intro'd me to PP. I found Gravity Kills
on the Mortal Kombat Movie soundtrack and loved it then. I got the newer CD of theirs
but it wasn't the one i wanted. It's ok, but quite boring. Every song sounds like the song before it. Project Pitchfork: my
friend intro'd me to them by a tape with songs from their CDs entitled
"Alpha Omega" and "Io". Very beautiful stuff!! I bought the CD entitled ¡Chakra:Red!
and it is great!!! I also finally bought Entities, Alpha Omega and Io. Now THESE guys know how to make MUSIC … Excellent music. Picture the type of melody behind KMFDM's Full Worm Garden, but ALL THE TIME and with 80s sounding beats and sounds! Always varied and very inventive. I suggest you check them out!!! I believe I will soon dedicate one of my webpages to them! They make music … actual MUSIC … not just beats and a couple of guitar riffs … they make it melodic and musical!!!
Cornelius is a Japanese artist who makes funked out music. Check him out, too!
Please, please, PLEASE don't make your entries "Private" unless you say something personal about yourself, because i get too many Private, "hey man, nice page, bye," or they say nothing that needs to be private ... it is so AGGRAVATING!
